MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) still has to resolve cases involving party-list groups with two sets of nominees, two weeks after they were proclaimed winners in the May 9 polls.

In a radio interview, Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista said the poll body has to determine which among the factions should be recognized and allowed to assume the seats for their groups at the House of Representatives.

In the last elections, 115 party-list groups ran, but only 49 acquired enough votes to get the 59 seats for party-list at the House.

Based on Comelec Resolution 10061, six groups have two sets of nominees.

These are the Trade Union Congress Party (TUCP); Coalition of Associations of Senior Citizens in the Philippines (Senior Citizens); Citizens Battle Against Corruption (CIBAC); 1st Consumers Alliance for Rural Energy Inc. (1-CARE); Adhikaing Tinataguyod ng Kooperatiba (ATING KOOP) and Mamamayan Tungo sa Maunlad na Pilipinas (MTM PHILS).

Of these, only four groups won. Senior Citizens has two seats while TUCP, CIBAC and 1-CARE has one seat each.

Pending its decision, the Comelec withheld the Certificates of Proclamation of the four groups.

Bautista said Comelec has until June 30 to decide.
