WATCH: Law professor bares election law loopholes
MANILA, Philippines — Law professor Mel Sta. Maria revealed loopholes in the country's election laws.
Sta. Maria, who served as dean of Far Eastern University law school, said election law contradicts itself in term of pre-campaign season political promotions.
Before the campaign period starts, several candidates have already distributed and posted campaign materials such posters and aired television ads, which is against the Omnibus Election Code.
"There are people who filed a lawsuit against this candidates but the Supreme Court keeps on acquitting them," the 59-year-old election law expert said at a recent Bilang Pilipino Talks on the psychology of corruption. — Reporting by Efigenio Toledo IV; Text by Vanessa Bernardo
