20 vote-rich areas and their vice presidential bets
MANILA, Philippines — While Rodrigo Duterte has claimed a convincing lead to become presumptive president, the vice presidential race is far from over with the small margin of votes between the front-runner Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo and rival Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
At the close of polling day on May 9, Marcos took an early lead in the unofficial count by the Commission on Elections' transparency server before Robredo surpassed him a few hours past midnight May 10.
Prior to the 2016 elections, the Commission on Elections released a breakdown of the number of registered voters per area.
Cebu led as the top vote-rich area with 2,722,288 registered voters. Cavite and Pangasinan followed with 1,843,163 and 1,705,260 voters registered, respectively.
Others in the top 20 were: Laguna with 1,675,366; Negros Occidental with 1,663,492; Bulacan 1,640,615; Batangas with 1,526,195, Rizal with 1,450,458; Iloilo with 1,347,514; Nueva Ecija with 1,314,658; Pampanga with 1,278,260; Davao del Sur with 1,247,362; Leyte with 1,151,497; Quezon City with 1,150,342; Quezon with 1,124,090; Camarines Sur with 1,001,870; Zamboanga del Sur with 975,950; City of Manila with 974,479; Isabela with 911,910; and Misamis Oriental with 863,160.
